As a somewhat random aside…

During our travels, this one particularly beautiful kind of tree kept popping up along the road, brilliantly aglow with fiery orange flowers. It became the “mystery tree,” because even after asking a bunch of people, we couldn’t figure out what it was.

As it turns out, this tree happens to share the same name as my all-time favorite Josh Garrels song/ album, Jacaranda Tree. Check it out at this link — along with the rest of his music, it’s totally worth the listen:

Josh Garrels Jacaranda

Sitting on porches
Since Friday while the sky
Tilts like a watery glass…

I pray light will
Leak from our pockets
We’ll be drenched, overcome
At night the fireflies
Streamers at our sides
Silent flaming arcs of hope

All things will change
We wait for the rain
And the promise remains
